Email open tracking

How Syncek counts opens on the email you send from it, where the count shows, and how to turn tracking off.

Syncek counts how many times each email you send from it is opened. Open tracking is on by default. It adds a small invisible image to the email, and each time the recipient's mail app loads that image, Syncek records an open. Link clicks are not tracked.

Turning it off

Settings, then Personal, then Integrations, under Email tracking: the Track email opens switch. It is your setting, not the workspace's, and it covers every mailbox you connect. Syncek reads it as each email leaves, so a scheduled email follows the switch as it stands when it sends. If the setting cannot be read at that moment, the email goes out untracked.

What counts as an open

  • Only email sent from Syncek is tracked, replies and scheduled email included. Mail you send from Gmail directly is not.
  • Every load counts, so one person reading an email three times shows three opens.
  • Loads within 10 seconds of sending are dropped. That is almost always the recipient's mail server scanning the message.
  • Reading your own copy in Syncek does not count.

The numbers are approximate. Some mail apps load images in advance, which records an open nobody made, and others block them, so a real read never registers. What an open tells you, and what it does not, is worth reading before you act on one.

Where you see opens

In Sent and All emails, the Pixel track column shows an eye for each conversation's latest tracked email, with the open count once it has been opened. The column is hidden by default: open View settings and switch it on under Visible columns. Hover the eye to see when that email was sent and when it was first and last opened.

Inside a sent email, the eye sits on the line under the sender's name, after the recipients. Click it for the latest opens, each with a hint of the device. An email sent with tracking off shows Not tracked there, so a missing count never reads as zero opens. In the Pixel track column, its cell stays blank.
