Column calculations

Show a sum, an average, a minimum or a maximum under a number column, or count the empty and filled cells in any column.

In Syncek, the footer row under a table can show one calculation per column. A Number column offers Sum, Average, Min and Max, and every column offers counts of its empty and filled cells. It works in the table of any object or list, on every plan.

Adding a calculation

Click Add calculation in the footer under a column. What the menu offers depends on the column's type:

  • Every column: Count empty, Count filled, Percent empty and Percent filled.
  • A Number column adds Sum, Average, Min and Max.
  • A Boolean column adds Count marked and Count unmarked.

On a Reference or Relationship column, the empty and filled counts treat every loaded row as filled today, so they cannot show which records have no link.

The result sits in the footer with a short word after it, such as sum, avg or filled. Choose None in the same menu to remove it. Empty cells are left out of a sum, an average, a minimum and a maximum, so an average is taken over the cells that hold a number.

What it covers

A calculation covers the rows loaded in the table, which already follow the view's filters and search. Syncek loads records 50 at a time as you scroll, and the footer under the record name shows how many are loaded out of how many match, for example 50 of 212 count. When the two numbers are equal, the calculation covers the whole view. On a long table, scroll to the end before you read a total.

Filter first, then read the footer. The calculation speaks only for the records that match.

Kept with the view

The calculation is saved with the view, like its filters and sorts. On a shared view everyone sees it, so try a new one on a private view. Boards, the email tables and the notes table have no calculation footer.

Saved with its filters, a calculation is how Syncek answers the questions a report would. See Dashboard and reports.
