Lists

A list is a set of records you choose on purpose, with attributes of its own.

A list in Syncek is a subset of one object's records that you put together yourself, and it appears under Lists in the sidebar. Unlike a view, which follows a rule, a list keeps the records you added until somebody removes them, and it can carry attributes of its own.

A list is not a view

  • A view shows every record matching a rule. Records join and leave on their own.
  • A list holds the records you added. They stay until somebody removes them.

Use a view for "all open opportunities over ten thousand". Use a list for "the forty accounts we are going after this quarter", because that set is a decision.

Attributes that belong to the list

A list can carry attributes of its own. An account has a name and an owner; its place in your Q3 target list has a priority and a next step, and those belong to the list. Delete the list and the account is not left carrying stale fields.

Working with lists

  • Create one in Settings, then Data, then Lists.
  • Add records from any table with Add to list, or from a record page.
  • Give it views, exactly like an object.
