# Exporting data

Syncek exports your records as `CSV` or `Excel` in two ways: from any table with
**Export**, or one or more whole objects from
**Settings, then Workspace, then Exports**. Either way the export runs in the
background, and you download the finished file from the **Exports** page.

## From a view

In any table, click **Export** and choose the rows: **All rows** (every record of
the object or list, whatever the view filters out), **Visible rows** (the ones the
[current view](https://syncek.com/docs/views/saved-views) has loaded) or **Selected rows**, when you have
ticked some. The file carries every field of the object except the ones Syncek fills
in itself, such as **Created At**, whether or not the view shows them.

[Filter](https://syncek.com/docs/views/filtering) the table first to narrow what **Visible rows** holds,
or tick the records you want and choose **Selected rows**.

## From the whole workspace

**Settings, then Workspace, then Exports**, then **New export**. Pick the objects
and the format. More than one object arrives as one `ZIP` of CSV files, or as one
Excel workbook with a sheet per object.

Every run is listed with its status and its author. A failed run can be retried, and
any run deleted.

## Two things worth knowing

- A finished file eventually expires. Download it rather than treating the **Exports**
  page as an archive.
- An export is a snapshot of the values at the moment it ran.

Coming the other way is [importing](https://syncek.com/docs/your-data/importing).
