# Favorites

A favorite in Syncek is a record, note or email you have marked with the star. A
starred record comes first in its object's tables and appears under **Favorites**
in the sidebar. Stars on records and notes are shared with the whole
workspace. A star on an email is yours alone and matches the star in Gmail. Anyone
but a Guest can star. Stars replaced pins in September 2026.

## Starring a record

In an object's table, the star sits in the column right after the checkbox. Click
it to star the record, and click it again to take the star off. Starred records
come first in every table view of that object, whatever its sort, and the rest
follow in the view's order. A board keeps its own card order, and the table of a
[list](https://syncek.com/docs/your-data/lists) has no star column.

The star belongs to the team, not to you: everyone sees it, and taking it off takes
it off for everyone. A star is not a field, so a view cannot filter or sort by it.

## Favorites in the sidebar

**Favorites**, below **Records** and **Lists** in the sidebar, shows up to 50
starred records from every object, the most recently starred first, each with its
object's icon. Click one to open its [record page](https://syncek.com/docs/core-concepts/record-page).
Until something is starred, it reads **No favorites yet**.

## Notes

A note's star is shared with the workspace too. Click it on the **Notes** page, in
the column after the checkbox or on the note's card, or on the card in a record's
**Notes** tab. On that tab, starred notes come first under a **Favorites** heading.

## Emails

An email's star is personal. It marks a conversation in your own mailbox, and
nobody else sees it. To star one:

- Click the star beside it in **Inbox** or any other list under **Folders**.
- Open it and click the star next to **Reply**.
- Select several and click **Favorite**. In **Favorites** the button reads
  **Unfavorite**.

**Favorites**, under **Folders** in the Emails area, lists only the conversations
you have starred. In the other lists a star does not move an email up. Syncek keeps
the star in step with Gmail: star a conversation in Syncek and it is starred in
Gmail, and the other way round. An email moved to **Archived** leaves **Favorites**
until you turn on **Show archived** in **View settings**.
